Insurance, Free Medicial Facility for AKTU Lucknow Students

Lucknow: Students of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) may soon have an insurance scheme in their name along with the 'cashless' medical treatment facility as per decisions taken by the finance committee. The move will come to the aid of approximately 5 lakh students of the 634 technical colleges and institutes affiliated to the university across Uttar Pradesh. Looking at the safety and security of women students, decision to construct a women's hostel in IET Lucknow was also taken by the committee headed by vice chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak.

A sum of Rs 13.5 crore has been set aside for the women's hostel, while a new design institute in Noida will come up for Rs 10 crore. Decision was taken to make e-tendering facilities for all university related projects above Rs 1 lakh. The university has also signed MOU with National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training & Research (Kolkata) for upgrading skills of its faculty.Along with this, Rs 17.95 crore will be given for innovation and incubation and an additional Rs 32 crore for strengthening of various technical institutes under AKTU.
